Homepage design principle

The public website and the repository serve different audiences.

The repository may retain a rigorous institutional structure. The homepage should not mirror that structure. It should help a visitor quickly discover useful research.

The governing rule is:

Research first. Institution second.

The homepage therefore prioritizes models, practical guides, current research, open development, historical preservation, and contribution paths. The founding charter, evidence standard, repository laws, preservation program, and institutional collection map remain available under About & Governance, where they support the work without competing with it.

Future homepage changes should favor:

• human-readable destinations rather than filenames;
• useful information rather than explanations of structure;
• a small number of clear paths rather than exhaustive navigation;
• visible recent work so the site feels active;
• preservation of all underlying documentation without elevating every document to the front page.
